Foster Creek Farm

Guest Ranch Belgrade

Foster Creek Farm

About

Foster Creek farm was once part of the Samuel P. Miller homestead and has the original hand-hewn log cabin and outbuildings dating back to 1890. William P. Huffine bought the farm from the Millers in 1906 and developed the property further, adding the barn and the farmhouse (the Huffine house). There is still evidence of the spur line used to connect ranches north of Belgrade to the northern pacific railroad built in 1883. The property was once an integral part of a larger barley and wheat growing community in the area. The extensive restoration of the historical barn is the venue’s centerpiece that brings together classic charm and modern elegance. The original grain building has been renovated into an exquisite suite and one of the initial log buildings has been converted into a handsome cabin. Both Suite and Cabin serve various groups, and wedding parties can independently relax and prepare for their events. Our goal has been to preserve as much of the original history and buildings while incorporating modern amenities to our guests. Today, the property features the Estate House, the Huffine House, the Suite, the Cabin and Glamping Tents that can comfortably accommodate 34 friends and family. More information on property can be found on our Accommodation Page and our Venue Page. Foster Creek Farm retains the authentic Montana feel with fantastic mountain views while providing a luxurious venue conveniently close to Downtown, Bozeman.

Grizzly Creek Ranch

Grizzly Creek Ranch

About

Grizzly Creek Ranch is, hands down, the most gorgeous piece of private property that we have ever been on, and there is a lot of stunning country in Montana. The ranch is an almost 2,000 acre retreat situated at the doorstep of Yellowstone National Park. Nestled seven miles up a side valley from the trodden route to Yellowstone, the ranch is amazingly private and 360 degree views are of stunning wilderness. Period. The ranch is home to the wildlife that travelers hope to view in Yellowstone, from elk, deer and eagles, to even wolves and bears. There are six homes on the ranch, some historic, a few quite new – 5 of them yours. They range from a one bedroom honeymoon cabin to a three bedroom home. Four of them are at the main compound of the ranch; two are a ten minute walk (or two minute drive) up the creek on the ranch. Grizzly Hall, the central gathering spot on the ranch, has a large dining room, four different living spaces for groups to spread out, and multiple grand stone fireplaces. There is a huge flagstone patio and garden for cocktails, outdoor dining and evening campfires. A beautiful barn next to Grizzly Hall houses fun for kids both young and old with a pool table, foosball, and ping pong. Kids love having an overnight “campout” in the barn! There are also mountain bikes to use, a slip and slide, croquet, etc, etc. On-site ranch hosts, a lovely couple whose first careers were working in Yellowstone (they have great stories to share!), are there to introduce you to the ranch, answer questions, make sure that you are comfortable, and to guide you on exploratory hikes on the property. Catering is an additional fee, prepared and served by a favorite local chef and his staff. Additional private activities available for arrangement (at an additional cost) include Yellowstone Park tours with some of the best guides in the region, fly fishing guiding and instruction, river rafting, zip line tours, and on-site yoga and massage (in a wonderful yoga and massage cabin!). The ranch is an incredible retreat, far from the busy world. Guests enjoy utmost privacy and quiet, yet you are close to so many wonderful activities, from exploring Yellowstone to fly fishing on the Yellowstone River, hiking, mountain biking and river rafting. It’s a great base camp for exploration – or for enjoying the ultimate “rustic elegant” retreat for rejuvenation in nature. Half is due to secure the reservation. Final balance is due 60 days prior. There is a $10,000 security deposit. Additional fees apply for activity planning, catering and for hosting weddings and other events.

Johnson Place

Guest Ranch · Vacation Home Absarokee

Johnson Place

About

The Johnson Place guest house is the original house on an historic 1,200-acre ranch located near the site of the second Crow Agency. Straddling the valley of the East Rosebud River, the working cattle ranch is comprised of irrigated hayfields on the valley floor and range on the hills on each side of the valley. Wildlife abounds: mule deer, whitetail deer, bald eagles (during winter), golden eagles, sandhill cranes, great blue herons, foxes, and coyotes are some of the species frequently seen. The East Rosebud is a fine trout stream, and guests are invited to fish and hike on the ranch. Some bring their own horses (boarded for a nominal fee) to ride the miles of trails on the ranch. Both hikers and horsebackers can reach many of the trailheads into the Absaroka/Beartooth Wilderness area just a half-hour drive from the ranch. We can also arrange hayrides, horseback riding, and whitewater rafting through local outfitters. The house itself is a spacious ranch home, originally built by Emily Aadland's grandfather Magnus Johnson, when the area opened for settlement in 1893. Its log cabin and adobe heritage are still in evidence by the thick walls and window sills in the kitchen area. Completed as a frame structure in subsequent years, the house has been thoroughly remodeled and contains a large kitchen with a picture-window view of the Beartooth Mountains to the south, three large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a huge living room. All cooking utensils and appliances, microwave, and clothes washer and dryer are included.

K Bar L Ranch

About

Welcome to the K Bar L Ranch. We're located on the edge of Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness, below Sun Butte, where the North and South Forks of the Sun River meet. Since 1927 the K Bar L has been a superb mountain retreat... a place to call your own, with main dining lodge and comfortable guest cabins. When would you like to visit? In June, the snow lingers in the sheltered areas and mountain peaks. Big game moves back to the summer range, and new flowers color the mountainsides. You'll sleep through frosty nights, snuggled under Hudson Bays. You can only get to the K Bar L by jet boat up Gibson Lake, or by saddle horse and pack mule around a scenic mountain trail to the ranch. The K Bar L's reputation has been built on giving our guests the best of everything. The Last Old Premiere Dude Ranch, the K Bar L Ranch is a little piece of heaven... and a good horse. Call us soon so we can start planning for your visit. Fly into Great Falls or Helena and drive less than 2 hours to our lower ranch. A short boat ride away, a good hike, or a 6 mile horse ride in and you will be at the K Bar L Ranch.

McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch

Guest Ranch · Working Ranch Libby

McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch

About

McGinnis Meadows Cattle and Guest Ranch is an authentic working cattle ranch located in northwest Montana. Our main emphasis is our horse and cattle program. We ride and teach our horses using the Buck Brannaman style of horsemanship. This method, based on the 300 year old Vaquero tradition, is both gentle and effective and creates a unique bond between horse and rider. Guests of all levels, from beginner to experienced, can learn as much as they like about horsemanship and further their riding skills. Once everyone is comfortable with their horse, we put everything we've learned to use by working cattle. You will leave here a better rider. We are a small ranch, catering up to 19 guests per week, so we are really able to give individual attention and tailor each day to you. Each day during our main season, you can choose to ride and move cattle, practice ranch penning and cutting steers, further your horsemanship skills in our arenas or out in the meadows, or just head out and explore new country. No head to tail rides out here! Just relaxing on the deck with a good book is always an option too. For non-riders, we have mountain bikes to explore the old logging roads, fishing gear and inner tubes for relaxing on a crystal clear lake (swimming is more for July and August). The Cabinet Wilderness Area is nearby for some excellent hiking as well. We are always teaching a new horse and it is exciting to just watch and learn as well. Each evening after a full day, we come home to a hearty dinner and fine cozy lodging. We want you to experience the best of both worlds! Let us know your plans and come ride with us!

Old Kirby Place

About

When it comes to fly fishing lodges, it is so nice to stay in one that Jim Bridger might have found comfortably familiar. This historic lodge was built of hand-hewn logs, as are the adjoining cabins. The main building has a wrap-around front porch overlooking the famous Madison River, only a fly cast away and of course, unlike Jim Bridger's days, all rooms have private baths. Set in a grove of trees and adjacent to the historic Hutchins Bridge, recently included in the National Register of Historic Places, the Old Kirby Place fronts on a stretch of the Madison River which is well known for its spectacular trout fishing. Located near the western edge of Yellowstone National Park, we are less than an hour's drive from such notable fly fishing rivers as the Gibbon, Firehole, Gallatin and Henry's Fork. Amenities include comfortable lodging, a hearty breakfast, lunch a relaxing happy hour (open bar and hor's devours) after a full day's activities, followed by a gourmet dinner served family style around a long pumpkin pine table in the lodge's great room. Frequent dinner guests include local fly fishing guides who enliven the inevitable fish stories. All beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are included in the rates.

Swan Mountain Ranch is operated year round. We house spring bears hunts along with many outfitted clients of Swan Mountain Outfitters. Located in the heart of the Swan Valley, Swan Mountain Ranch is a one-of-a-kind property. Bordered on all four sides by Swan River State Forest, the nearest year round neighbor is over 7 miles away. At Swan Mountain Ranch, you enjoy a serene setting away from it all taking in the beauty of the Swan Range that forms the western border of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. The ranch consists of a main lodge, guest cabin and stocked pond. The main lodge is a 6,000 square foot log home with a game room, theater, hot tub and plenty of Western ambiance. The cabin is 1100 square feet and offers a full kitchen, satellite TV, washer/dryer. Because its separate from the lodge and has a variety of amenities, the cabin is an excellent choice for groups or guests who prefer the style of a vacation rental. During your stay at Swan Mountain Ranch we can arrange a variety of adventures right outside of your door such as: horseback riding, fishing, llama treks, snowmobiling and even guided hunts. Let us know what you're looking for to make this a memorable get-a-way. Whether you are looking to use the ranch as your base and explore Glacier Country's nearby wonders, or simply soak in the solitude, Swan Mountain Ranch is the perfect setting for your Montana vacation.
